This weekend was super. I spent Friday night at home with the wifey, which, if I do say so, is an excellent way to spend a Friday night. She spent the first part of the evening holed up in the basement of her school, on account of the tornado warning. My train ride home was pretty scary… the sky around us was black, and the winds were whipping rocks and sticks into the train. Everyone had huddled against one side with their faces pressed against the window. A few people spotted a tornado, and kept muttering that we were heading straight for it. It was not a fun train ride. When I got off the train, people were advising us to get to a basement as fast as we could, so I trekked home through whipping winds, hail, and fat rain before arriving home soaked. By the time Becky did get home, we were both just happy to hole ourselves up for the rest of the night.
On Saturday, we played a game of Sorry, and I dominated. Seriously, I dominated in a hardcore way. I had all of my pieces around the board an into home in only 1.5 trips through the deck. Becky had one piece in the safety zone, but all of her other pieces were sitting pathetically in the start circle.
I freaking dominated.
I left for the city early on Saturday for a long evening of shows. I improvised with PoM at The Playground. Cheetarah was also playing, and they packed the house pretty well. Our set went very well. It was the first time I’ve felt excited about an improv show in a long time. Lately I can’t bear to watch or perform in them. But sometimes, everything just clicks well, and it was a worthwhile experience for all.
We had one of our biggest crowds for DSTW. We turned away a whole bunch of people, and had a great big line out front of the theater for a while. A guy from 101.9 FM was there, as were the gals from The Bastion, as was the fella from The Apiary. A bunch of old college friends were in town. Erica performed as Cutie Bumblesnatch for the first time in a long time. So again, sometimes everything just clicks… after the great PoM show, I didn’t expect DSTW to be so great… but as it turns out, two things can click in one night. We had one of our best DSTW‘s, and got to perform it for one of our biggest houses. So as far as comedy is concerned, the whole evening was a great, great success, and incredibly gratifying.
Tonight is my last rehearsal as coach of Mess Hall. And just as my Mondays open up, my Tuesdays become spoken for as Talkin’ Funny starts next Tuesday.
The entirety of Silly Horse Whispering has been added to the Blewt! YouTube channel, as well as the first two seasons of Talkin’ Funny. Hopefully I’ll have the motivation and time to post a rolling selection of new short films featuring Blewt! characters, or at least some clips from Don’t Spit the Water.
